Summer School: Tracing Bosniak Culture

The ‘Tracing Bosniak Culture’ Summer School started at the Dzemal Bijedic University of Mostar on 31 August 2026 and will run until 6 September 2026.

The Dzemal Bijedic University of Mostar and the Türkiye Bosna Sancak Derneği Association jointly organized the Summer School. During the seven-day programme, participants will explore Mostar and Bosnia and Herzegovina through lectures, visits to cultural and historical landmarks, and social activities. They will also gain new knowledge about the Bosnian language and Bosniak culture.

On the first day, the organizers opened the Summer School, followed by a lecture titled ‘The Bosnian Language Through Letters and Words’, delivered by Prof. Dr. Sanja Merzic.

The programme continued with a tour of Mostar’s landmarks, starting in front of the University Rectorate building. Participants concluded the first day with free-time activities and socializing with students of the Dzemal Bijedic University of Mostar.

The Summer School also builds on an initiative launched at the International Summit of Bosniak Youth in Istanbul. A delegation from the Dzemal Bijedic University of Mostar, led by Rector Prof. Dr. Alena Huseinbegovic, participated in the Summit. During the event, the delegation presented the organization of a Summer School in Mostar as one of the goals and as a form of future cooperation.

Over the coming days, participants will take part in activities focused on the Bosnian language, culture, and history.
