Department of Kinesiology: 9th Swimming Convention in Sibenik

The Croatian Swimming Federation (HPS) held its 9th Swimming Convention in Sibenik on 26 and 27 September 2026, bringing together experts in swimming, sports, and sports science.

Prof. Dr. Damir Djedovic and MA Amina Kajtaz Pinjo, a PhD candidate in Kinesiology at Dzemal Bijedic University of Mostar, presented their professional and scientific research at the convention.

The two-day programme featured two lectures. Prof. Dr. Damir Djedovic delivered a lecture entitled ‘How Much Training Is Actually Enough?’, in which he discussed the relationship between training volume and intensity and highlighted the importance of recovery for athletes’ long-term development. He also presented the development of swimmer Lana Pudar, from swimming school to top international results.

Prof. Dr. Djedovic and MA Amina Kajtaz Pinjo jointly delivered the lecture ‘The Impact of High Training Loads on the Hormonal Status of Elite Female Swimmers’, focusing on hormonal health, energy availability, and the individualisation of the training process for elite female athletes.

During their joint presentation, they also introduced Amina’s PhD dissertation, which she is conducting under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Damir Djedovic. Her research will examine how menstrual cycle phases affect competitive performance, swimming biomechanics, and elite female swimmers' perceived readiness.

The participation of representatives of the Kinesiology Department in the 9th Swimming Convention provided an opportunity to present current scientific research topics and exchange professional knowledge in the fields of sports and swimming.
