Learning to Know European Sports Cultures

Students and staff from the Dzemal Bijedic University of Mostar joined Saarland University (Germany) in a two-phase ERASMUS+ Blended Intensive Programme, Learning to Know European Sports Cultures.

During the first phase, held from 23 to 27 February 2026 at Saarland University, students Stela, Faris, Emrah, Dino, Emre, and Tarik from the Department of Sport and Health of the Faculty of Education, together with Vice-Rector for International Cooperation Prof. Dr. Rijad Novakovic and Teaching Assistant Amel Jazvin, explored German sports culture. They attended lectures, participated in practical activities, and gained insight into the system of elite and school sports development in Germany. They also visited an Olympic training centre, meeting with the director and elite German athletes.

In the second phase, held in Mostar from March 9 to 13, 2026, the Dzemal Bijedic University of Mostar hosted students and staff from Saarland University. During this phase, participants explored the sports system in Bosnia and Herzegovina, including its organisation, challenges, and development opportunities. They exchanged experiences, engaged in intercultural learning, and strengthened cooperation between students and academic staff.

This mobility programme strengthens international cooperation, facilitates knowledge exchange, and promotes sport as a key component of European identity.
