University Multidisciplinary Education Center Opened

On June 30, 2026, the University Multidisciplinary Education Center (UMEC), with a newly built plateau, was officially opened at the Džemal Bijedić University of Mostar.

Prof. Dr. Alena Huseinbegović, the Rector, emphasized that the event is much more than the opening of a renovated building.

"Today we are opening a space that symbolizes the vision of the University’s development, a vision that implies continuous investments in knowledge, people, cooperation and a brighter future. The building in front of us was severely damaged and required thorough reconstruction. Today, we can proudly say that it has been completely renovated. UMEC will provide space for lectures, offices for professors and associates, a modernly equipped computer room, a meeting room, a space for the University's podcast, the premises of the Student Union, student records offices for the University Study Programme of Speech Therapy and Cosmetology, the Career Center, as well as other multifunctional spaces intended for teaching, research, projects and the development of new ideas," said the Rector, Prof. Dr. Huseinbegović.

The Rector added that the final furnishing of the rooms is underway and that all facilities will soon be in full operational capacity.

In addition, five new modernly decorated reading rooms and five rest areas have been opened in the Antalya Student Dormitory.

The establishment of UMEC was supported by the Federal Ministry of Displaced Persons and Refugees.
