Presentation Showcases Scientific-Research and International Projects at the University

The Dzemal Bijedic University of Mostar continued its 49th anniversary celebration on 12 February in the Mechanical Engineering Faculty amphitheatre, where it presented scientific-research and international projects it carried out over the past year and outlined its plans for 2026.

Vice-Rector for Science, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Amela Piralić opened the program and emphasized how research drives the University’s development and strengthens its international position.

Participants learned about the results of activities within the SUNRISE alliance, with a focus on partnership cooperation, mobility, and upcoming challenges. Presenters also highlighted numerous research and development projects in industry, energy, agriculture, sports, and education.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emir Nezirić spoke about projects in 3D printing and the application of artificial intelligence in energy systems, while Assoc. Prof. Dr. Damir Špago introduced the ENERGIAI project. Prof. Dr. Alisa Hadžiabulić shared her research on the pollen of honey plants in Herzegovina and presented the international Interreg project SATECON.

Prof. Dr. Rijad Novaković introduced the project “Active Campus – Students’ Sports Activities in Leisure Time,” which Prof. Dr. Ekrem Čolakhodžić leads.

Prof. Dr. Safet Isić presented the results of the research and development project “Development of an IT System for Monitoring and Intelligent Real-Time Prevention of Machinery Failures,” which UNDP and FMON co-financed through the RD grant scheme.

Prof. Dr. Aida Brkan-Vejzović introduced the project “Classroom 2.0 – Blending Education and AI,” and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Merima Salčin spoke about the project “eTeacher – AI Tools for Modern Teaching.”

University Library representatives also contributed a special segment. MSc Edita Mulaosmanović and Salko Kovačić presented digitization projects, including the “Digital Reading Room for the Culture of Knowledge,” which the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina funds.

In the final part, speakers presented Horizon Europe and COST projects, which further strengthen international research cooperation.

Through this event, the University once again demonstrated its commitment to science, innovation, and international networking, aiming to contribute to social and economic development.
