Ceremonial Session of the Senate

The University Senate held a ceremonial session in the amphitheater of the Faculty of Humanities to mark the 49th anniversary of the University.

Alongside the University management, members of the Governing Board, deans, vice-deans, and heads of university study programs, the session also gathered rectors of public universities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as guests from the social and political life of Mostar and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The University’s Rector, Prof. Dr. Alena Huseinbegovic, addressed the attendees and highlighted the importance of the University’s continuous development from its establishment in 1977 to the present day, emphasizing the University’s role in education and in the development of the academic community.

As part of the introductory addresses, Prof. Dr. Jasna Durakovic, Federal Minister of Education and Science; Prof. Dr. Adnan Velagic, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton; Prof. Dr. Jusuf Durakovic on behalf of the Rectors’ Conference of Bosnia and Herzegovina; and Academician Prof. Dr. Enver Zerem on behalf of the Academy of Sciences and Arts delivered speeches.

During the session, the University awarded recognitions to teachers who had attained the title of full professor in the past year, as well as to individuals who had achieved notable results and contributed to the University’s development. The Rector presented plaques to the following recipients: Prof. Dr. Ekrem Colakhodzic, Prof. Dr. Azer Korjenic, Prof. Dr. Damir Djedovic, Prof. Dr. Alma Micijevic, Prof. Dr. Samra Medjedovic, Prof. Dr. Rijad Novakovic, Prof. Dr. Elma Temim, Prof. Dr. Samira Sefo, Prof. Dr. Hanadija Omanovic, Prof. Dr. Semina Hadziabulic, Prof. Dr. Mili Selimotic, Prof. Dr. Dragi Tiro, Prof. Dr. Jasna Durakovic, Nerin Dizdar, Osman Catic, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dzafer Alic, Prof. Dr. Adnan Velagic, and Mr. Adil Suta, MSc.

The University also granted letters of appreciation for contributions to its development to the following recipients: Dr. Goran Karanović, Emeritus Prof. Dr. Semso Tucakovic, Mr. Ismet Maksumic, Mr. Adil Joldic, Visnja Vojinovic, and Azra Puce.

The participants concluded the ceremonial session with a joint photo session and social gathering.
