Field Class: Mostar as an Open-Air Classroom

On Monday, April 13, 2026, first-year students of the Faculty of Civil Engineering conducted a field class in the city of Mostar.

The group began the visit at the Old Bridge, where students analyzed the characteristics of the stone structure and its key engineering elements.

They then visited the Kriva Cuprija, where students examined the principle of constructing a scaled model used prior to building the Old Bridge.

The field class also included a visit to the Karadjoz-bey Mosque, where instructors presented construction elements and the types of stone used, as well as the Bell Tower of the Church of St. Peter and Paul.

As part of the activities, the students also visited the Herzegovina Museum Mostar (Museum of the Old Bridge and the Ethnological Museum). Indira Gastan-Beso, Senior Curator, delivered the presentation.
