Faculty of Civil Engineering organized a professional-educational tour of Mostar.

Faculty of Civil Engineering organized a professional-educational tour of Mostar.

The students explored stone construction without reinforced elements, roof coverings with limestone slabs, and tenelija construction. They studied the Karađož-beg Mosque from the Turkish period, the characteristics of buildings from the Austro-Hungarian era, construction on conglomerates in the Mostar Valley, and the decoration of buildings with ornamental stone.

The students visited the Museum of Herzegovina Stari Most, where they learned more about the construction, maintenance, and history of the Old Bridge. They then visited the Ethnological Museum of the City of Mostar, and finally climbed the bell tower of the Church of St. Peter and Paul, enjoying the view from the highest point in Mostar.

This tour allowed the students to connect theoretical knowledge with practical experience while exploring the significant architecture and history of Mostar. Such activities contribute to their understanding of engineering principles and the city’s cultural-historical heritage.
