Exhibition for the Day of Independence: ‘Bosnian Language and Education’

On the 28th of February, 2025, the Faculty of Education at the Dzemal Bijedic University of Mostar hosted the exhibition ‘Bosnian Language and Education.’ Professor Dr. Ekrem Colakhodzic opened the exhibition to mark the celebration of the 1st of March, the Day of Independence of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

On the 28th of February, 2025, the Faculty of Education at the Dzemal Bijedic University of Mostar hosted the exhibition ‘Bosnian Language and Education.’ Professor Dr. Ekrem Colakhodzic opened the exhibition to mark the celebration of the 1st of March, the Day of Independence of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The author of the exhibition was Dr. Jasmin Hodzic, the Director of the Institute for Language at the University of Sarajevo. The Bosnian Cultural Community ‘Preporod’  the Society of the City of Mostar, in collaboration with the Faculty of Education, organized the exhibition. Mr. Azem Feriz, the president of the ‘Preporod’ – Mostar Branch, greeted the attendees on behalf of the organizers, and then Dr. Jasmin Hodzic addressed the crowd. The author introduced the exhibition's content and expressed his satisfaction with opening it between two important dates: the Mother Language Day on the 21st of February and the Day of Independence of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the 1st of March.

The exhibition presents the history of education in the Bosnian language and discusses the status of the Bosnian language in the education system, from the beginning of modern schooling to the present day. The exhibition remained open until the 7th of March, 2025.
