Official Opening of the 8th Debate Competition

On March 27, 2025, the 8th Debate Competition was opened. It brings together high school and university students to promote critical thinking, argumentation, and public speaking. The ceremony began with the national anthem of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the student anthem "Gaudeamus Igitur."

Proof. Azra Spago, Vice-Rector for Education, Prof. Dr. Amra Jasarbegovic, Dean of the Faculty of Law, Prof. Dr. Adnan Velagić Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of HNC, Amir Causevic and President of the Student Union gave the introductory speeches at the opening ceremony.

The Federal Ministry of Education sponsors the 8th Debate Competition. This year, 16 teams participated in the competition: high school students from Mostar, guests from the Gymnasium in Bugojno, and students from the "Pro et Contra" debate club. The participants demonstrate their dedication, effort, and preparation, with the support of their professors, proving their readiness for reasoned and constructive debates.

After the official program, the organizers presented special awards to: Prof. Dr. Alena Huseinbegovic, Dr. Azra Spago, Prof. Dr. Amra Jasarbegovic, Prof. Dr. Adnan Velagic, Mirza Lalic, former president of the Student Union, and the founder of the debate competition. The organizers also presented gifts, certificates, and promotional materials to all participants, trainers, judges, and moderators along with acknowledgments.

The competition began officially with the first debate at 10:40 AM. The 8th Debate Competition will feature meaningful discussions, strong arguments, and dynamic debates. The winning teams will compete in the semifinals on March 28, 2025.
