Prof. Dr. Emina Junuz Participates in Academic Conference at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg

Prof. Dr. Emina Junuz from the Faculty of Information Technology attended and participated in the international conference Academic Freedom in Action 2025 at the Council of Europe headquarters in Strasbourg.

The conference brought together representatives from the academic community, parliamentarians, judges of the European Court of Human Rights, and officials from governments and civil society. The participants actively discussed the challenges to academic freedom, including political pressures, censorship, intimidation, transnational repression, and the impact of digital transformation. They also emphasized the importance of protecting academic freedom to ensure universities maintain institutional autonomy.

The Council of Europe has announced that it will continue to develop recommendations, monitoring mechanisms, and international instruments to effectively strengthen and safeguard academic freedom.
