Debate Held at Mostar City Hall on Environmental Protection

The OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina organized a debate on environmental protection and strengthening civic engagement on Wednesday, 10 December 2025, in the City Hall of Mostar, marking Human Rights Day.

The President of the City Council of Mostar, Djani Rahimic, and Julija Vitanova from the OSCE Mission’s Field Office in BiH attended the debate, supported the initiative, and emphasized the importance of actively involving young people in social processes.

Students of the Faculty of Law of the Džemal Bijedić University of Mostar and members of the Pro et Contra Debate Club — Medina Tikvesa, Lamija Selimovic, Nadja Dedic, and Aja El Gaher — together with the club’s president Anes Beganovic, participated in the event in cooperation with the Debate Club of the University of Mostar. The students presented their views on environmental protection, the preservation of natural resources, and the quality of life in Mostar.

During the debate, participants exchanged arguments about the challenges the city faces, explored potential solutions, and highlighted the importance of sustainable development and responsible spatial management. The discussion helped deepen the understanding of community needs and the opportunities for young people to engage in decision-making processes.

At the end of the event, the organizers awarded certificates to the students for their participation.
