Džemal Bijedić University of Mostar Hosts OSCE Lecture & Signs MoU

Prof. Dr. Alena Huseinbegovic, Rector of the Dzemal Bijedic University of Mostar, and Brian Aggeler, Head of the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina have signed the Memorandum of Understanding. The document foresees the implementation of joint activities, including the lecture 'Ask a Diplomat'. During the lecture, Ambassador Aggeler shared his experiences in diplomacy and international relations with the students. 

Ambassador Brian Aggeler, Head of the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina said, "I am proud of the work diplomats do – the job comes with challenges, and it is sometimes difficult to see progress, but when you are successful, the world can be made a better place for everyone. When there is an interest, you should consider this as your career choice. The opportunity to make your country – and the world – a better place is provided by diplomacy. Additionally, it can be a lot of fun. You can learn a lot from living in other countries, as I have learned during my very enjoyable time here in Bosnia and Herzegovina,"   

Rector Prof. Dr. Alena Huseinbegovic was very happy, and she extended her gratitude to Ambassador Aggeler for the engaging lecture delivered to the students of Dzemal Bijedic University of Mostar.   

Prof. Huseinbegovic emphasized the need to enhance the cooperation with the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina, to strengthen the rule of law, protect human rights, foster scientific research, advance internationalization, and improve the teaching process at the University, as well as the importance this cooperation will have on developing a multinational and multiethnic democratic society, and its significance extending beyond the students and staff to the broader community. 

During the lecture,  Ambassador Aggeler talked about the challenges and opportunities diplomats face in their work and engagements, along with insights into the role and importance of diplomacy in a global context. The lecture was followed by an interactive discussion, during which students got some interesting answers from Ambassador Aggeler, an expert in diplomacy.
