Džemal Bijedić University of Mostar and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) deepened their partnership today with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the university rectorate. Professor Alena Huseinbegović, Ph.D., Rector of Džemal Bijedić University of Mostar, and Brian Aggeler, Head of the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina, signed the agreement and affirmed their commitment to future joint activities.
During the event, Ambassador Aggeler engaged directly with students by delivering the lecture "Ask a Diplomat." He shared his extensive experiences in diplomacy and international relations, offering insights into the challenges and rewards of the profession. "Diplomacy transforms challenges into progress and creates opportunities to make the world a better place," stated Aggeler. He encouraged students to consider a diplomatic career, describing it as both fulfilling and enjoyable.
Rector Huseinbegović welcomed the ambassador’s lecture and highlighted the university's dedication to advancing human rights, strengthening the rule of law, and fostering a democratic, multicultural society. She outlined ongoing efforts to internationalize education, enhance academic programs, and expand research opportunities, all of which align with the goals of the OSCE Mission.
The students actively participated in the session, discussing the role of diplomacy in the global context and asking questions about real-world diplomatic challenges. Through this dynamic exchange, they gained valuable perspectives on international cooperation and its impact on society.
