The program marking the 65th anniversary of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the "Džemal Bijedić" University of Mostar began with the ceremonial session of the Faculty's Scientific-Teaching Council, held on November 21, 2024, at 11 a.m.
The Rector of the "Džemal Bijedić" University of Mostar, Prof. Dr. Alena Huseinbegović, addressed the attendees with the following words:
"Today, we gather with pride and gratitude to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the existence and successful work of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University 'Džemal Bijedić' in Mostar.
Since its inception, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering has played a significant role in the industrial, technological, and scientific development of our region. Mechanical engineering serves as the foundation for innovation, and innovation drives the progress of every society. Over the decades, this faculty has educated generations of experts who not only acquired theoretical knowledge but also learned to apply it in practice, contributing their skills, work, and vision to the development of our economy, science, and society.
The success of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering stems from the dedication, expertise, and innovation of its professors and associates, who exemplify how commitment and effort translate into long-term success.
Our University, together with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, now faces the challenges of globalization, digitalization, and rapid technological transformation. However, I am confident that, by relying on tradition, excellence, and innovation, we will successfully meet these challenges and seize them as opportunities for further growth.
Dear colleagues and students, congratulations on 65 years of successful work at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. I wish you all health and success in the future."
I delivered a congratulatory speech on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Education and Science, Assistant for Science and Technology Marko Antonio Brkić.
The Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Mirna Nožić, greeted the attendees on behalf of the Faculty's staff and students. In her speech, she highlighted the faculty's developmental journey from its founding to the present.
The Faculty expressed its gratitude to professors who made the most significant contributions to educating its staff. They honored the first post-war dean, Prof. Dr. Stefan Sunarić (posthumously), the President of the Faculty Council, Associate Professor Muhamed Voljevica (posthumously), and all professors who participated in the teaching process during the first post-war postgraduate studies organized at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering from 1997 to 1999.
The Faculty also awarded a Certificate of Appreciation to former Mufti Seid ef. Smajkić for assisting in securing contacts with the Islamic Development Bank and obtaining a donation for constructing the Faculty's building. Former Mayor of Mostar, Mr. Safet Oručević, received recognition for his financial support and understanding of the importance of educating assistants during his postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Zenica in 1995.
Acknowledgements were given to Mr. Đahid Muratbegović, former director of the "Igman" company in Konjic, and Associate Prof. Dr. Rešad Malović, former director of the Neretva Hydroelectric Plant Branch in Jablanica, for their continuous support in developing the faculty.
The Faculty also presented Certificates of Appreciation to the Federal Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Economy of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton for their long-standing contributions to the Faculty's growth.
The Dean's awards were given to undergraduate and master's students with the highest grade point averages during the 2023/2024 academic year.
The celebration of the Faculty's 65th anniversary will continue with the Scientific-Professional Conference titled "Trends and Perspectives of Industrial Development in FBiH," scheduled for Friday, November 22, 2024, starting at 10 a.m.
