Gender Equality and Gender-Based Violence: Legal Aspects

From the 26th of November to 10th of December, 2024, the university organizes several lectures, workshops, and discussions to educate academic and administrative staff, as well as students, on gender equality and gender-based violence.

Prof. Dr. Alena Huseinbegovic, Rector of Dzemal Bijedic University of Mostar, delivered a lecture ‘Gender Equality and Gender-Based Violence: Legal Aspects’ and facilitated student discussion. She conducts the lecture on Monday, December 9, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Faculty of Law of Dzemal Bijedic University of Mostar. Through this event, the university enhances knowledge and raises awareness about respecting gender equality within the academic community.

Dzemal Bijedic University of Mostar and the Transcultural Psychosocial Educational Foundation (TPO) implemented the project Introduction of Gender-Sensitive Policies in Higher Education (University and Gender Mainstreaming – UNIGEM) based on a signed Memorandum of Cooperation and with the support of the Government of the United Kingdom. The project actively prevents and combats gender-based violence, discrimination, and sexual harassment while strengthening integrity and quality in higher education.

The TPO Foundation, in partnership with 19 universities from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, and Montenegro, including Dzemal Bijedic University of Mostar, leads the UNIGEM project. This initiative ensures gender equality and creates a safe environment for faculty members, staff, and students in higher education institutions across Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region by incorporating a gender perspective into university policies and practices.
