Solemn session of the University's Senate

The Days of the Dzemal Bijedic University of Mostar University continued with the solemn session of the Senate at the Princess Hall - Hotel Mepas Congress Centre. The university management, deans, heads of university studies, the rectors of public universities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, numerous dignitaries, officials, and guests attended the ceremony. The Senate session included the presentation of the Rector's awards to the best students and a scroll of honour for the efforts and exceptional contribution to the development of the University and the recognition of the University’s reputation in the country and abroad as well as for the long-term achievements in the fields of science, education, sports.

Prof. dr. Alena Huseinbegović, the Rector of the Dzemal Bijedic University of Mostar, welcomed everyone on behalf of the University's management, teaching, administrative staff, and students. She thanked everyone for the honour of attending and participating in the solemn Senate session of the University and making this important day even more solemn.

“Today we celebrate the University and almost half of the century of its foundation. This solemn session is an opportunity to analyse the achieved results in the past year and to announce the future. The University cannot be measured only buy numbers or the rankings. The University are the people devoted to their work when they face numerous challenges, people who with their positive examples contribute to the quality education and responsibility toward their community who aside from their scientific knowledge can transfer practical skills and competencies, people who research, educate, and serve the University and society they live in.”  emphasized prof. Huseinbegović.

The first cycle students who received the Rector's award for the best students are: Omer Ćosić, Ema Dlakić, Đenana Đulmez, Nedim Pajić, Haris Šunje, Minela Dugalić, Sanida Hebibović, Jenet Tanović, and Nihada Hopić. Armin Krasniqi, Elda Sultić, Ajla Graho, Harun Topić, and Medina Čorda are the second cycle students who received the Rector’s award.

The University also awarded teachers who obtained the title of full professor in the previous academic year. The awardees are prof. dr. Alena Huseinbegović, full professor at the Faculty of Law; prof. dr. Rašid Hadžović, full professor at the Faculty of Civil Engineering; prof. dr. Edina Špago-Ćumurija, full professor at the Faculty of Humanities; prof. dr. Asim Peco, full professor at the Faculty of Education; and prof. dr. Muharem Kozić, full professor at the Faculty of Economics.

Prof. dr. Damir Đedović, associate professor at the Department of Sports and Health of the Faculty of Education, and MA. Alena Ćemalović, a teacher assistant at the the Department of Sports and Health of the Faculty of Education were awarded with the scroll of honour for their contribution to the European and worldwide success of Lana Pudar, and thus promotion and recognition the Džemal Bijedić University of Mostar in the best possible way. 

Prof. dr. Senad Rahimić, prof. dr. Mirjana Popović, prof. dr. Emina Junuz, asst. prof. dr. Suad Zalihić, and MA. Čelebija Tikveša received the certificates of recognition for exceptional contribution and achievements in teaching, scientific research, and other activities at the University.

The awardees for the efforts and exceptional contribution to the development of the Džemal Bijedić University of Mostar are: Edin Mušić, representative in the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina; prof. dr. Rašid Hadžović, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Herzegovina Neretva Canton; Salem Marić, President of the City Council of the City of Mostar; Sadik Babür Girgin, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Adnan Faladžić, Minister of Finance of the Herzegovina Neretva Canton; Sead Pašić, full professor at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Džemal Bijedić University of Mostar; Vahida Žujo, full professor at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Džemal Bijedić University of Mostar.
