Today in Mostar, the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina celebrated Science Day with a ceremony honoring recipients of the "Friend of Science" recognition. Prof. Dr. Ekrem Čolakhodžić, the dean of the Faculty of Education at the Džemal Bijedić University of Mostar, and the Faculty of Economics at the Džemal Bijedić University of Mostar, were among this year's awardees.
The "Friend of Science" recognition acknowledges individuals for their significant achievements and notable contributions to organizing and advancing scientific research and development activities. It also acknowledges efforts in disseminating knowledge about the importance of science and applying results from scientific research and development work across various sectors of social and economic life.
Science Day commemorates the day in 1975 when Vladimir Prelog received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry. On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Rijad Novaković, the Vice-Rector for International and Interuniversity Cooperation, and Prof. Dr. Emir Nezirić, the Vice-Rector for Science and Research, visited and laid flowers at the monument to Vladimir Prelog.
