On December 9th, the third scientific conference entitled „Human rights facing the challenges of reality“ was held at the Faculty of Law at Dzemal Bijedic University in Mostar.
Professors in the field of law and human rights from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region as well as the experts in human rights practice as well as the Ph.D. students from Faculties of law from Bosnia and Herzegovina took part in the conference.
At the opening of the conference, the Dean of the Faculty of Law, prof. dr. Alena Huseinbegović, Vice-Rector for Science and Scientific Research of the University "Dzemal Bijedic" in Mostar, prof. dr. Rebeka Kotlo, and the Ombudsman for Human Rights dr. sc. Jasminka Dzumhur addressed the participants.
At the very beginning, the moderator, prof. dr. Amra Jašarbegović emphasized that the ongoing battle of living in the pandemic caused by COVID – 19 has shed new light on human rights.
All existing issues that are in the modern human rights focus have one more inevitable aspect – how can we maintain an achieved level of civilization and legally protected standard of human rights in circumstances when we are facing unexpected and unwelcomed and potentially life-threatening consequences and still have an appropriate reaction, what in certain situations will mean that we will inevitably violate the domain of human freedom?
The conference was held online via Microsoft TEAMs platform, due to COVID – 19.
