This was my first mobility exchange program, and it was an experience I would highly recommend to every student. It was an opportunity I’m glad I took. I spent the last summer semester at the University of Graz in Austria, and the thing that initially sparked my interest in attending a new university was the chance to meet new people, experience different cultures, and expand my worldview.

The first day was definitely challenging. Everything was unfamiliar, and I felt a bit overwhelmed. However, the friendly and supportive university staff made it much easier to settle in. My roommate, who was from Bosnia, also played a big role in easing my transition, as it meant I had someone familiar with me from the start. While there were some initial challenges, such as adjusting to a new country, navigating language barriers, and learning how to get around, it was much easier knowing that I wasn’t alone. The community and people around me were incredibly helpful in overcoming these obstacles, and I was able to adapt much quicker than I expected.

This experience has not only helped me grow academically but also made me more confident in my ability to meet new people and embrace new situations. Over time, my roommate has become one of my best friends, and I’ve learned so much from this exchange in ways I never imagined.

For anyone considering an exchange program, I highly encourage you to do your research about the country you’re visiting, as it can help you feel more prepared. But regardless of where you go, I would 100% recommend taking the leap and participating in such a transformative experience.
