Strengthening Academic Cooperation: Dzemal Spago’s Experience at Saarland University

During my visit to Saarland University, I participated in a workshop entitled Teaching and Learning – Basics in English, organized by the University’s Department of Didactics. The workshop focused on enhancing instructional techniques for creative English language teaching, designing competence-based curricula, and developing interactive teaching activities that promote active student participation in the learning process. Through these activities, I further strengthened my own teaching skills and gained valuable insights into the use of creative pedagogical methods, as well as the competencies required for designing and developing curricula for English-language courses.

In addition, during meetings with representatives of the Department of English at Saarland University, I became acquainted with the structure of the English studies programs, the content of undergraduate and graduate courses, and the various methods used in delivering instructional activities. I will apply this knowledge in the future planning and development of course content within the Department of English Language and Literature at our university. I also arranged for one of the instructors from the English Department of this German university to visit our Department in the upcoming semester and to conduct a workshop or a block of classes modeled on the teaching practices implemented at Saarland University. This initiative aims to provide our students with a first-hand view of how instruction is carried out at Saarland University, and to encourage them to participate in future Erasmus student exchanges, thereby enabling them to gain valuable international experience.

All in all, participating in the Erasmus exchange program at Saarland University has been a great and rewarding experience, both productive and enjoyable.
