IRO UNMO BLOG: Ramón Bouzas Lorenzo

My name is Ramón Bouzas. I am a professor of political science and public management at the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain). My work field is the study of organizations and especially human resources. In addition, I coordinate an European project focused on the development of leadership training.

Organizations, people and leadership… what great challenges and key elements of the modern world! These are the issues that brought me to Dzemal Bijedic University of Mostar. I wanted to share my teaching and research interests with the academic community and, at the same time, share knowledge with the excellent teaching staff at UNMO and learn from their experience.

I came to Mostar in June 2022, after postponing my stay several times due to the pandemic. The waiting time increased greatly my expectations and the desire to know Mostar, a city of which I had basic knowledge and news most of time linked to some shadows of past.

The experience was excellent, brilliant and very lively. During the days I spent in Mostar I discovered its character, its rich history and its vocation as an “agora” of confluence of cultures and religions, some merits that few cities can exhibit. Its people know very well how to appreciate like no one else the need for dialogue, cooperation and how to face the future with courage. I not only perceived those values in the streets, but I found them at UNMO, whose professors and students hosted me with warmth, infinite kindness and intelligence.

From Mostar I brought home the desire for a permanent collaboration between UNMO and my University. And from the Atlantic corner of Europe where I live, I only dream of having the chance to live again the kind and exciting days I spent in Mostar.

Many thanks to my students and, of course, to my colleagues, Irma, Mirsada, Sanvila and Veldin.
