Since 1987, the Erasmus programme has enabled more than three million European students to spend part of their studies outside their home country at a higher education institution in Europe. The new Erasmus+ Programme is a worldwide programme that enables student mobility from non-EU countries to Erasmus + "Program Countries" (EU28, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Macedonia, and Turkey) and outgoing student mobility from EU countries to "Partner Countries" around the world. Students can receive a scholarship that allows them to spend a limited period of their studies (up to 12 months per cycle of study) to obtain ECTS credits. Staff can also take advantage of the programme by spending from five days up to two months abroad engaged in lectures and/or training. This international mobility is managed by a network of Erasmus + national agencies established in each Programme Country.
